Book worms will be out in force in Cumbria from mid August.
Since lock down our counties libraries have been in suspended animation. Cumbria libraries have for many of our older residents; been a haven of social contact, with free news papers to read and a chance for a catch up on the gossip . Well loved libraries such as the community managed library in Seascale or bigger reference libraries such as Barrow have been missed during lock down.
Today Cumbria County Council announced that 6 of the larger outlets will be opening on Monday 10th August. The chosen few are Carlisle, Penrith, Whitehaven, Workington, Kendal and Barrow.
As was expected; customers will have new Covid-secure measures in place and opening times will be slightly different.
The Communications and Media Officer at Cumbria County Council said; “We can confirm more in the coming weeks. We will continue to keep you updated with our reopening preparations, sharing more information as we have it. We can’t wait to welcome you back, so roll on the 10th August!
The announcement came just moments after Boris Johnson laid out his time table for the gradual opening of venues across the UK.
