Chris has been into music since he was a young boy. “As early as I can remember I used to listen to my parents cassette tapes in their moulded plastic cases and 8 tracks in my Dads car” Although Chris’ go to genres are Indie and Brit Pop, he has an extremely eclectic musical taste which is reflected in his show, Anything But Pop.
“My Dad tried his best to get me to learn piano, but I wasn’t having any of that noise. Slash was my hero and if I was playing anything, it was guitar”. Chris joined a band when he was 18 with a fellow St Bees DJ, Steven Nick and they played one solitary gig. It was enough to give him the bug and he’s been in bands on and off for 20 years playing bass and guitar.
Chris has also been involved with a small record label when living in Newcastle. Work started out as simply collating data for the company and he went on to manage three of the bands who were signed to the label.
“This is my first foray into radio and I’m loving every minute! I’m hoping to make Indie Hour and Anything But Pop firm favourites”
